Mission Statement
Sioux County Schools are a student-centered environment with a mission to provide knowledge through innovative educational resources while developing each student’s confidence to impact the future.
 
The Sioux County School District covers an area of about 2,000 sq. miles. The area is sparsely populated and the enrollment is small with a 1:4 teacher-student ratio. Our students receive a one on one individualized education. Sioux County High School enrollment is about 27 students in grades 9-12. The high school is a fully accredited Nebraska high school.
 
The students are offered a broad academic selection and a wide choice of extracurricular activities.  The students are proud of “their” school, the staff members are equally proud of “their” students.  A distance learning lab allows students to receive classes from all over Nebraska.  Through the use of the Internet, the students are able to communicate around the world.  SCHS has a very strong agriculture background, as well as a highly developed technology and fine arts program.  The small class size allows for a great deal of individual help for students.
We have a state of the art technological infrastructure to support our blended learning classrooms. We issue a lap top computer to each freshman and upon graduation the students have the option to purchase the lap top.  High students are issued an iPad to use during their tenure at the school.
School-sponsored clubs include:  FFA, One-Act Play, History Day, Quiz Bowl, Student Council, and National Honor Society.
Extracurricular activities found at SCHS are football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, and track.  Homecoming and Prom are additional activities.  There is something for everyone to get involved in and to have a great time doing it.
Chadron State College is located 50 miles east of Harrison.  Chadron State provides area educators with the opportunity to pursue advanced degrees through night classes and summer sessions. 
 
Harrison Nebraska, the home of Sioux County High School, is located in extreme north-western Nebraska near the scenic Pine Ridge. It is situated on U.S. Highway 20 and 29 in the northern part of the county. Harrison, a modern day Wild West town is the county seat of Sioux County. The surrounding area is ranchland on which some of the finest beef cattle in the world are produced. The area is a haven for the sportsman. There is an abundance of deer, elk, antelope, and wild turkeys. In addition, there are numerous streams and lakes for trout fishing.
 
Working, living, and playing in Sioux County is like stepping back in time. Residents have the luxury of a life free of crime. Friendly people, a relaxed atmosphere, and a pollution-free environment are enjoyed by residents of Harrison. Although the winter months may be cold and snowy, the summer climate is cool, dry and very pleasant. The breath taking views of the early morning skies and sunsets are a true inspiration for photographers, artists and outdoor enthusiasts. The Black Hills are two hours away by automobile and the Rocky Mountains and Denver area are about a four hour distance. Harrison is on a direct route to Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons.
