SCS Notice of Title IX Statement

Sioux County Public Schools does not discriminate on the basis of sex in any educational program or activity that it operates. The District is required by Title IX (20 U.S.C. ยง 1681) and 34 CFR Part 106 not to discriminate in such a manner. This requirement not to discriminate also applies to admission and employment. Any inquiries about the application of Title IX may be referred to the District Title IX Coordinator, to the Assistant Secretary of the Office of Civil Rights, or both. SCS Notice of Section 504

Section 504 is a Federal Civil Rights Rehabilitation Act, which prohibits discrimination against persons with a disability in any program receiving federal financial assistance. The Act defines a person with a disability as anyone who: has a mental or physical impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities. SCS Hearing Impaired

Sioux County Schools contracts with ESU 13 for deaf education services for students who are deaf and hard of hearing. These services include assistance to SCS with verification and accommodations for students who are deaf and hard of hearing, assessment of the needs for a sign interpreter, and collaboration with the providers to meet the needs of the student. The individual providing these services will assist the school in locating assistive technology equipment, classroom materials and will support the classroom teacher. SCS English Language Learners

All kindergarten students and any student enrolling with SCS will be provided a Home Language Survey. The purpose of the survey is to identify students who speak a language other than English. The proficiency assessment will determine if the student may be limited English proficient. SCS will provide services to any student whose primary language is other than English.
