Turbiville nabs two state medals

Sioux County senior Victoria Turbiville capped off her Warriors speech career with two medals at state.
Turbiville competed in three events at State Speech in Kearney Saturday and picked up hardware in two of them. She finished third in poetry and fifth in persuasive, making her a four-time state medalist for Sioux County. She was 10th in her third event, program of oral interpretation.
Her two top six finishes continue an impressive run for Sioux County, which has posted seven consecutive years with a state medal in persuasive speaking and three consecutive years with a poetry medal.
Freshman Miranda Smith competed in extemporaneous speaking at state, just missing out on finals with a seventh-place finish.
The Warriors were 12th overall out of 22 teams in the sweepstakes competition in Class D2.
